We were both on the site at our family's request. Ram was quite active and I was not... it took me over 2 weeks to respond the first time. We didn't email much but rather went right to phone conversations. The first time we talked on the phone, something happened. Ram claims he "knew" in that moment. I was just dazed and perhaps not facing the facts. That was April 27th. Our first date was May 6th and he was late! Ironic since that is usually my thing -- to be late. Well, it was quite magical. We were both a little apprehensive but then things just took over. He said he loved me already on our second date... quite romantic with the rain at the boathouse in Central Park. Of course, I was just taking it in jest since we were talking about the differences in our languages and the many differences between us. We spent the next couple months really trying to know each other and see if we would be able to live with the differences. He met my family, friends and became a part of my life. On Sunday, Sept 3rd, he came to my parents' home to formally ask for my hand in marriage with the proper Shagun for the girl (me!). I am very happy! We are now headed to India to meet his parents and family and will exchange rings while there. The marriage will happen in early summer of 2007. Who would have ever thought... love can be found on the net!
